Some of us have had the good fortune of being able to call the shots. You can let it be known what is tolerable and what breaks a deal. Your ego is fed by friends, admirers and lovers. Luck finds you. You revel in it. You believe it will go on like this forever.
And then, you get older. Your tolerance increases. You let things go. You allow boundaries to be overstepped and soon find yourself swallowing so much of your ego that it fills your stomach to the point of excruciating pain. You are bloated with forgiveness. You think it is part of the journey to finding your truth.
There doesn’t seem to be anything actual about the process of self-actualization. It seems abstract, intangible, yet there it is, weighing down on your shoulders and digging its claws into your abdomen, until you decide to stand up or accept your demise.
I say, stand up. Don’t just fight for yourself. Fully embrace who you are and let no one shake you.
Live your life. Live your life.
